BEHIND THE MVMT

Cassondra is the founder/owner of Pilates MVMT Studio.

"My journey into the world of Pilates started in 2014 as a personal quest for balance and strength. After taking my first Pilates class, I was immediately intrigued by its complexity and it was an easy choice to become an avid student. For years I had searched for a type of movement that could not only keep me strong and healthy, but also keep me feeling fantastic without overworking it or burning it out. I fell in love with not only the theory and exercises, but the endless benefits I had found both mentally and physically. 


In 2015, it was this exact passion that led me to become a Certified STOTT PILATES® Instructor. There is something to be said about the STOTT PILATES® method and its emphasis on biomechanics, athletic performance enhancement and rehabilitation. 


With a background in STOTT PILATES®, I've come to appreciate the incredible benefits that this method brings to the table. From improved flexibility to enhanced core strength, Pilates is the foundation upon which I build my fitness philosophy. In saying that, my commitment to my students extends far beyond the mat and Pilates Apparatuses. I firmly believe in the significance of skeletal muscle in our overall health and longevity as it plays a huge role in how we can age gracefully, limiting injury, disease and pain.


As a fervent advocate for well-rounded fitness, I've seamlessly integrated strength training into my sessions both off and on the Reformers. Pilates forms the bedrock and my approach encompasses a diverse range of exercises designed to sculpt and strengthen the entire body. Why? Because building and maintaining skeletal muscle isn't just about aesthetics; it's about fostering a resilient, functional body that stands the test of time.


Over the years, I've trained competitive athletes, worked with physiotherapists to tailor to rehabilitative clients, I specialize and thrive while training pre / post natal Pilates and overall, I pride myself in promoting active aging all the way into the senior years of life.


Whether I’m teaching a group class, private, semi or tri-private sessions, my focus is to provide a balance of functional exercises and incorporate a degree of challenge and progression, all the while keeping it fun and safe for my clients. On a daily basis I’m inspired by the changes I see in front of me as I watch my clients build strength and make their health a priority. 


When I’m not teaching Pilates, you may still find me in the Studio working on my own Pilates practice or in our gym lifting heavier weights (because I believe there is room for both when it comes to functional fitness)! Outside of that, you'll find me enjoying the simple things in life such as gardening, kayaking, fishing and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors with my sweet little Family of three that includes my Husband and our son that we welcomed into the world in 2020!"
